Questions about a secular room
Is Ohana a 12-step meeting?
No. There are no steps to work, no program to sign on to, and nothing you have to accept to belong. People who work a 12-step program are welcome too. Ohana is peer-led: people in recovery holding space for each other.
Do I have to believe in a higher power?
No. Ohana asks for no beliefs at all. Nobody will push religion on you, and nobody will push atheism on you either. You decide what recovery rests on for you.
Can I come if I am religious?
Yes. Religious, nonreligious, certain, uncertain: you belong here. Secular means no belief is required, not that belief is unwelcome.
Is this therapy or treatment?
No. Ohana is peer-led support, not a substitute for emergency care, medical advice, therapy, or professional treatment. Many people use it alongside those things.
When and where does it meet?
Online, every night, from 11 PM to 3 AM Pacific. It is free, there is no sign-up, and you can stay anonymous. The Tonight page shows when the room opens next.
Come as you are. Believe what you believe.
The seat is yours whether you pray, meditate, doubt, or none of the above. The room opens every night at 11 PM Pacific.
